(Affordable + Natural + Easy Everyday Makeup)
My last couple posts have been heavy.
Thatโs because life has been heavy.
I share the hard stuff because thatโs what people actually relate to. (You can read about what I do to stay connected to my kiddos when life is hard here)
But this week, Iโm taking a small break from the heavy.
Today weโre talking about makeup.
If youโre a mom, youโre probably thinking one of two things:
- โI already have a routine.โ
- โI definitely do not have a routine.โ
Either way, this is what Iโm here for; sharing simple routines that make life easier and honestly just make me happy.
I donโt wear makeup every day.
But when I do? It helps me feel awake. Put together. Like myself.
These quick makeup routines for moms are simple, affordable, and designed for real everyday life.
And no, Iโm not linking $80 foundations.
My most expensive product in this post is $31 and it lasts me months.
I tend to use affordable, clean(ish) brands like e.l.f. and Wet n Wild. I donโt chase trendy expensive โclean beautyโ; I use what works for my skin, my wallet, and real life.

My Base (What I Use Almost Every Day)
I have extremely sensitive, breakout-prone skin. Hormones in my 30s have not been gentle with me.
After a lot of trial and error, I finally found a sunscreen and moisturizer I love:

DRMTLGY Physical Tinted Moisturizer SPF 44 (the only “expensive” product I use at $31)
It:
- doesnโt break me out
- matches with ANY skin tone/color
- super light feel
- gives my skin a beautiful finish
- protects all day
- bottle last me a long time
Do I reapply every 2 hours like the bottle says?
No. Not unless Iโm at the beach.
But for everyday life, it works beautifully.
A lot of days, this is all I wear.
2-Minute Makeup Routine for Busy Moms
(โWeโre Late and I Slept Badโ Days or I just want to feel somewhat put together)

What this routine focuses on:
- Brightening tired eyes fast
- Evening skin tone with minimal product
- Looking awake without foundation
- Feeling put together in under 2 minutes
2 Minute Routine:
- Vitamin C serum (I’ve used both Naturium and Derma E both around $20 but Derma E is double in size )
- Tinted sunscreen/moisturizer (DRMTLGY Physical Tinted Moisturizer SPF 44)
- Mascara with primer first ( my current go to is Covergirl Lash Blast Volume)
- Tinted lip gloss and carry in my pocket throughout the day (Maybelline lip balm nourishing oil $7)
Thatโs it.
Basically, eyes and lips.
Simply brightening eyes and lips does wonders.
No foundation. No eyeliner. No stress.
I keep my lip gloss in my pocket and reapply throughout the day.
Even just curling my lashes and putting on mascara makes me feel more awake.
5-Minute Everyday Makeup Routine
(Leaving the House or simply Want to Feel Put Together)
What this routine focuses on:

- Defining eyes naturally (without strong black liner)
- Framing the face with brows + liner
- Adding subtle color for a polished look
- Still keeping everything affordable and realistic
5 Minute Routine:
- Everything from the 2-minute routine (vitamin C, tinted moisturizer, mascara) plus:
- Brown or burgundy eyeliner ( I love L’oreal’s shade selection and it glides on so easily! $9)
- Eyebrow pencil (I use e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil in Natural Brown $4)
- Lip liner used on the whole lip (I use e.l.f. Cream Glide Lip Liner $3)
- Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm: I use in shade Latte $10 (I carry this in my pocket…it works better when it’s warm)
Fun fact: I wore black eyeliner most of my life.
Then I learned that for blue/gray eyes, brown and burgundy are far more flattering. And I’m loving it!
Game changer.
If youโre curious what works best for your eye color, just Google it. Itโs wild how much of a difference it makes.
12-Minute Natural Glowy Makeup Routine
(โI Want to Feel Like a Million Bucksโ Days โ even if Iโm staying home)

This is when I slow down just a little. And most likely have woken up before the kiddos. (you can read about how I handle my morning routines here)
What this routine focuses on:
- Soft, natural glow without heavy makeup
- Dimension on the eyes that flatters your eye color
- Fresh, healthy-looking skin
- Feeling confident and โlike yourselfโ โ even at home
12 Minute Routine:
- Vitamin C Serum
- Acne treatment (this is what works best under makeup for me; it keeps my skin calm and helps my pores not get irritated)
- Tinted sunscreen/moisturizer (again, DRMTLGY Physical Tinted Moisturizer SPF 44)
- Sometimes foundation (sometimes I skip it, depends on the day and my skin)
- Liquid blush (my current favorite is e.l.f. Camo Liquid Blush; truly, one tiny dab is enough I use the shade Sauve Mauve $8)
- Highlighter (brow bone, above cheekbones, nose, and chin) (I use either one of these and love them both e.l.f. $10 or Wet n Wild $5
- My quick eye shadow steps:
- Champagne/Crystal shade (e.l.f. $6) on the inner lid + inner corner (tear duct area) for that brighter-eyes look
- Pink/rose shade (wet n’ wild $5) on the middle lid
- A metallic shade or copper shade on the outer lid (e.l.f. $6) (
- Blend with a finger or a shadow brush (I keep it simple)
- (If you want, again, you can Google what shades flatter your eye color; it makes a huge difference. I use e.l.f. and Wet n Wild. I love that e.l.f. is all clean ingredients but I love the feel of Wet n Wild )
- Eyeliner over the shadow–again, I suggest figuring out eye shape and going to google to figure out how best to apply for your eye shape) I love L’oreal’s shade selection and it glides on so easily (I use burgundy most days)
- A tiny bit of gold liner (L.A. Colors $2) in the inner corners/tear ducts (this brightens everything up)
- Mascara (Covergirl Lash Blast Volume)
- Lip liner–I put it all over my lips for my staying power (e.l.f. lip liner $3)
- A dab of the same liquid blush on my lips (so easy and it looks so good)
And Iโll carry the blush in my pocket so I can freshen up my lips if I want to.
Twelve minutes. Thatโs it.
And I feel like I can conquer the world.
I keep all my make up in this pencil bag (Yes, it’s the same pencil bag I use for my stress free homeschool systems. See, I told ya I love this bag) It’s easy to open and view all my shades of shadow at once and a big zipper pouch for the rest.

Why This Matters More Than Makeup
I donโt wear makeup every day.
But when I look in the mirror and see my lashes curled? I feel awake.
Itโs the same reason I buy glue-on nails.
Even on days when everything feels like itโs falling apart, if I look down and see my nails are done, I think:
โAt least my nails are together. Life is going to be okay.โ
Itโs not about vanity.
Itโs about tiny routines that anchor me.
A Little Controversial (Maybe?)
Three to four times a year, I use an at-home lash lift kit. ( AYASAL Lash Lift Kit $25 last me 4ish uses, so 12 months!
I donโt love curling my lashes every single day. But I love the look of uplifted lashes.
The kit lasts a couple months and makes my lashes naturally lifted.
It saves time. And I love that.
Closing
Makeup isnโt necessary.
But neither is coffee. (yup I said it).
And yet…
Sometimes small routines help us feel like ourselves in seasons that feel overwhelming.
These are mine.
